as a massive tetris addict and moderate idle game enjoyer, this is/was a very fun game, however it can be unfriendly to beginners, so the difficulty curve could be adjusted a little.

the game starts very slowly, but as soon as you get the last ai level, it starts to be surprisingly fast, idk if this is by design but it seems a little weird.

overall the game is good, there could be another prestige layer for more overpowered things (e.g. +1 mino per drop) and something so active play is more rewarded.

good job/10

ps: a solution for the lag issue can be to just place it instantly at small intervals, not bothering with gravity and stuff

Very cool thoughts

I enjoyed playing this, but having two AI boards on full speed made my entire PC lock up. Everything went black and my PC became completely unresponsive - even the power/reset buttons stopped working. I had to turn off the power on the PSU in order to restart it. Will try again in the future if there's an update, maybe. It's a cool concept!

Fun :) Thank you for the comment.

Unfortunate about that PC issue; I don't believe Javascript code sandboxed in a browser could cause such a thing, but perhaps there was a bug with the browser or something else with your PC's hardware. I've never had this issue you mention and haven't seen anyone else comment about it.

I've been hard at work on a desktop game Journey to Royn for 12 months. A newer version of Idle Tetris exists on my computer (with fun things like unique and wacky achievements with rewards), but I'm not likely to work on it for a bit because of my large complex exciting project.

(+1)

I guess I can't be 100% sure that the game caused the problem, but in 30 years of using a PC I've never seen that happen before...

(+1)

could you slow the tetris speed down? havent even been able to upgrade once

(+1)

bro the "skill issue tax" when topping out is absurd
-100???

(1 edit) (+1)

When decreasing prices, the minimum required amount of Minos owned to buy an item does not decrease.

Also, the AI tops out a bit much for my liking, and I believe the reason it does so is because it doesn't see temporarily cutting off a one-wide well as a potential option to reduce stack size.

I believe if you upgrade the AI, its strategy improves a tiny bit. But if I made the AI too good, there would be little incentive to play.

Good comments, thank you!

i finally got a level 2 ai after forever.

yippie.

congratulations!

(+1)

thanks :)

(+2)

this is entirely not how i remember the physics of tetris

(+1)

need some improvement, hope you still working on i

(1 edit) (+2)

why am i still on 10 minos after like an hour of ai level 1 speed level 3

(-1)

Too fast for the AI! You may want to level him up so he can handle the speed :)

(+2)

I can't, I'm only on 10 minos

(-1)

Well, you can either choose to play manually until you have enough minos (using the Toggle Control Mode Manual button), or take a break from the game and enjoy your day.

(+2)

Too fast, can't play good ): I will go for ai, then speed this time

(+1)

That is a good thing for me to note: too fast is unrecoverable!

(+1)

is there a way to un-upgrade speed?

Valid concern. That's worth consideration for me as the developer.

(+1)

when does the AI learn to use hard drop?

I can't remember for the version of the game that's on Itch.io, but the current code says that they start hard-dropping from higher up as they level up. So it's not that they start at a certain level; it's that they do it earlier as they level up.

Maybe the version on Itch had that functionality? Or maybe they didn't hard-drop at all...

(1 edit) (+1)

For starters, Level 2 AI + Level 3 speed + hold + next on two boards becomes self-sustaining.

(1 edit) (+1)

I'm running into problem where to level AI is so slow that it physically cannot clear lines since it can't move pieces to the edges if there's even a row or two of blocks, especially at higher speeds.

It gets like 50 points or so on occasion, but those points always go into the fee for topping out so I can never go cash-positive.

(+2)

i got an ai!

(1 edit) (+1)

small suggestion, limit the boards
the website starts to noticeably slow down around 30-35

(+2)

i have found a problem and softlocked myself as i got the first AI and then got speed 4 and neither the ai or myself can gain points

Noted.

I would say impressions are as follows:
- You have to play a lot of tetris to be able to afford the main selling point of the game, which is idle with AI. I was wondering if the first AI could cost less then the other grids
- The penalty for filling up the grid can be pretty rought especially when you start with no holding, no grid, no seeing the next piece or prieview of your next piece.
- "Speed upgrade" could be renamed to "Increase speed Upgrade" to let people know the game gets faster, not slower
- For some reason, the game makes me start at level 2 speed. maybe you could start at level 1 or even level 0 speed?
- Not being able to spin a piece when it is touching the border is a little rough
- Music and sound effects can't be changed seperatly, or even be lowered rather then muted

Game has a good potential though, I hope we will see more options or upgrades!

> For some reason, the game makes me start at level 2 speed. maybe you could start at level 1 or even level 0 speed?

The button is more like "Buy level 2 speed;" it's implicit that you're at level 1. I don't know how much this actually matters.

> Not being able to spin a piece when it is touching the border is a little rough

In the in-dev version, doing achievements allows you to progressively unlock piece kickback!

Your other thoughts are interesting too, though I have no comment for them, thanks for sharing!

Maybe I'll start developing this game more seriously again some time. I have some other cool projects in the works, though!

(+1)

are there keybinnds?

(+1)

go to boards list, then settings
the controls will be on the right side

(+1)

ok

(+1)

the fact you go into debt for -100 but only get +10 when you make a line is so so so op.

(+1)

Yea, I wanted to avoid making any fail-states for people newer to tetris. I don't think this game is meant to be so hard; I can't imagine how horrible it would feel to be -2000 in debt and not have the skills to get out of it in any reasonable amount of time.

(+1)

as jontron once said "Halleujah! Holy S***!" because 2 years is amazing

(1 edit)

lol & i'm still goin'

...doing the daily line is a great way to warm-up for other projects

(+1)

nice concept, but there doesn't seem to be much depth to it

(+1)

I’ll keep that in mind for updates :)

(+1)

i was finally good enough at tetris to buy my first AI

Congratulations!

(+1)

and ever since i've been on a tetris kick. i now consider myself quite decent at tetris.

:)

(+1)

somehot i got it stuck to its always going right no matter what

Have you tried pressing right to make it think you released it? I'll look into this.

(+1)

had to restart because i haven't played tetris is forever and apparently i suck

Was the issue that you upgraded the board speed to a gravity that was too fast for you? That's something I'm working on mitigating for manual-mode.

If you think the issue is something I can fix, let me know what the issue was and I'll take it into consideration.

Note that you can't go below -100 minos.

(+1)

my dumb butt didn't realize that and thought i'd failed so badly i permanently put myself into debt lmao

i got to -100000 i aint getting out of that

How so?

(1 edit) (+1)

Muchas gracias
